Resolved: The New Deal was an appropriate response to the great depression.

There it is. This debate seems particularly relevent given our current economic situation. Brief arguments for or against this proposition have been made in several posts recently, but I feel it deserves its own consideration rather just than a passing reference.

I have intentionally left the topic subjectively vague. Feel free to interpret "appropriate response" in any way you see fit.

I hope others of you will argue for or against this proposition. Given its almost uncanny relevance to current events it seems well worth the investment of time to clarify and refine your thoughts on the issue whatever they may be.

For my arguments on this topic see the posts titled "The New Deal was a Good Deal".
